James T Meeks (Plenary Speaker)

Rev. Meeks is the founder and senior pastor of Salem Baptist Church in Chicago’s Roseland community. With over 20,000 members, Salem is the largest African American church in Illinois and one of the fastest growing in the nation. He also serves as the joint chairman for the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus and as an Illinois State Senator for the 15th Legislative District. He and his wife, Jamell, reside in Chicago and are the proud parents of four children.

Leo Day (Worship Leader)

Leo DayLeo Day serves as Dean of the School of Church Music at Southwestern Seminary. Prior to coming to Southwestern, Day served as minister of music at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla. as well as an adjunct voice professor for the University of West Florida in Pensacola since 2008. Day earned a D.M.A. in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University (2000), a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Eastman School of Music (1990), and a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance from William Carey College (1988). He performs frequently across the United States and has performed professionally with the Hawaii Opera Theatre of Honolulu. Day has recorded two solo albums: “He Loves Me” (2003) and “Solace for the Soul” (2005).

Ralph West (Friday Evening Preacher)

Dr Ralph WestDr. Ralph Douglas West serves as founder and senior pastor of The Church Without Walls (Brookhollow Baptist Church, Houston, Texas). He first preached as a sixteen year old in his native Houston. The church began with 32 members and now embraces 24,000 families meeting in three locations and conducting six services each Sunday. Dr. West is affectionately known as PAS.


Robert Jeffress (Panel Respondent)

Dr Robert JeffressDr. Robert Jeffress is Senior Pastor of the 12,000-member First Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas and a Fox News Contributor. He is also an adjunct professor at Dallas Theological Seminary.
